The National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC), with the support of the CSIR Energy Research Centre, has developed a new expert-level energy training course in Process Heating Systems Optimisation.

The course was designed for a wide range of users, including plant utility managers and technicians, plant engineers and operations managers, as well as energy services companies, the course content is focused on complex heating and cooling systems in industrial settings.

Participants can look forward to the expert-level training course, which will be delivered over two intensive modules, each spanning four days, at the end of 2025. Attendees will engage in comprehensive instruction and hands-on activities designed to deepen their proficiency in analysing, designing, optimising and troubleshooting complex heating and cooling systems in industrial settings. The training will also focus on developing decision-making skills that promote operational excellence and long-term sustainability.

Those interested in enrolling for the course will need to have completed the NCPC Energy Management 101 and Process Heating end-user courses as this is prerequisite for enrolment in the expert-level training. The NCPC will set dates for these training courses in advance to provide candidates who have not yet completed them with an opportunity to participate.

The new course (Process Heating Systems Optimisation) forms part of a broader national effort to strengthen technical capacity in the field of energy efficiency and industrial decarbonisation. It aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills in process heating and cooling technologies, which are critical to improving the performance and sustainability of South Africa’s manufacturing sector.

Those interested in the course are encouraged to email NCPC ancpcgreenskills@csir.co.za or visit: www.ncpc.co.za for more information.
